Swap tiles to create combinations, send ice to your opponents’ boards to freeze their tiles, and climb the leaderboard based on your chess-style Elo ranking. 

How to play Guivo.io?

You can play a tutorial to get familiar with the game’s rules, or jump right into the competition. 

Line up three pieces of the same color to clear them from the board. Based on your performance, ice will appear on your board and freeze certain tiles. You can still use the frozen pieces to make combinations, but you can no longer move them.

Breaking and Making Ice

Break the ice by making combinations with or next to the frozen pieces. This will earn you valuable bonus points, too. Making matches will not only clear ice from your board, you’ll also send ice to your opponents’ boards as well.

After each move, ice from your queue will move to your board. Players wil better scores receive more ice from others. Don’t let it clog your board, because running out of moves will result in a big point deduction. The “Ice number” above your board shows how much ice is waiting in your queue.

Ranking System

Guivo.io uses an Elo ranking system that’s similar to chess to measure your skill and ensure fair competition. Your ranking is based on your score relative to others, and changes after each round.

You gain Elo from players who finish below you in score, and lose to those who finished above you. Finishing above players with higher Elo earns you more points, and finishing below players with lower Elo costs you more points. 

In other words, the higher your Elo, the harder it becomes to gain more, and the easier it becomes to lose Elo. 

Note: Elo is also subject to Elo Decay. To avoid losing Elo organically, you must play at least 10 ranked rounds every 30 days.
